How Many Government MBBS Seats in India?
In India at present 678 medical colleges work in both the Government and private sectors. Out of these 678 medical colleges, there are 370 Government/Semi-Government, AIIMS & Central Universities/ Institutions.
The remaining 308 are private medical colleges/Deemed Universities in various states/UT of India. The total number of Medicine seats is 103783. In which, MBBS seats (53968 in Govt. Institutions & 49815 in private/Deemed medical colleges)
Every year more than 18 lakh students compete for the NEET examination. Candidates aspiring to get admission in MBBS, BDS, and Ayush courses compete for the NEET examination.
Medical aspirants need to qualify in the NEET exam with a required score to get admission to a Government/private medical college. All India Counselling and State Quota Counselling processes will be done for the admission process. Based on the NEET rank, admission will be offered to the students.
