Affordable and High-Quality Medical Education Awaits: Study MBBS Abroad

Indian society has always considered the profession of healthcare as the most superior among all.

Since Doctors get the highest honor, the youth of India has always been inclined towards pursuing a career in medicine and health sciences, otherwise known as MBBS.

But in this era, the number of students enrolling for MBBS abroad is increasing every day and is higher than what it was a few years back.

The question is, why is this happening? Affordable MBBS abroad fees could be one of the reasons.

The restricted number of government seats in Indian Universities and the extravagant tuition fees imposed by private medical colleges have encouraged many Indian students to study MBBS abroad.

Since many other countries have accredited medical universities that offer certified and hard-to-resist MBBS courses, opting for MBBS abroad for Indian students at a low cost is nothing but an intelligent choice.

Requirement for MBBS Abroad for Indian Students

The admission requirements for Indian students to apply for MBBS abroad are formulated by the National Medical Commission.

Any Indian student interested in studying MBBS abroad has to fulfill the following eligibility criteria of NMC:

1. Academic requirement: The candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with an aggregate of 50% in PCB subjects. For reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC), the aggregate score is 40%.

2. Age requirement: The age of the candidate must be 17 years or older as of 31st December in the admission year.

3. NEET requirement: The candidate must have qualified for the NEET UG exam and have a valid NEET scorecard.

MBBS Abroad vs MBBS in India

Pursuing an MBBS in India and pursuing an MBBS abroad have more similarities than differences. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) has become mandatory to apply to all medical schools abroad as well as in India.

While MBBS in India is for a total of 5.5 years including one year of clinical internship, MBBS studies abroad can stretch up to 6 years including a year of clinical rotations (internship).

Studying MBBS abroad provides students with more global exposure, access to large university campuses, superior laboratory access, and a better student-teacher ratio.

Candidates who opt to study abroad can also practice in the host country and settle down in the long run. Students studying abroad are able to have access to all this and much more at a very economical price.

Students who have pursued their medical studies abroad would be required to appear for the Medical Council of India Screening Test, also known as the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (MCI FMGE) to be allowed to practice in India.

Unless the student has pursued his medical studies in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, or New Zealand, and is recognized for enrollment as a medical practitioner in the respective country, then he is exempted from appearing for MCI FMGE.
