Pass Marks in NEET 2023
The passing marks in NEET 2023 result is expected to be
124 for the General category
For the SC/ST/OBC category – 98
NTA will release NEET Pass marks 2023 along with the result.
Pass marks will be decided by the academy on the basis of the difficulty level of the examination, the number of competitors, the availability of the seats, category of the candidates, and various other factors.
The pass marks usually ranges between 40-50% of the total marks.

NEET Cutoff: Tie-breaking Process
NEET Tie-breaking is applied if 2 or more candidates scoring same marks in the exam. Using the tie-breaking process the ranks of the candidates will be decided.
Higher marks in Biology:
Competitors scoring higher scores/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be given the first preference in NEET merit list.
Higher marks in Chemistry:
After Biology, candidates scoring higher marks/percentile in Chemistry will be considered.
A number of incorrect answers:
If the tie still exists, then number of incorrect answers opted by a candidate will be considered for ranking.
NEET Merit List 2023
NTA releases the NEET merit list for candidates who have opted for the 15% All India Quota seats.
After declaration of the NEET result the merit list will be prepared for the counselling purpose.
The merit list will be submitted to the Directorate General of Health Services for seat allotment under 15% AIQ.
NEET Category-wise merit list 2023 with merit rank, marks, roll number, and percentile will be mentioned in the merit list.
Counselling authority publishes the NEET merit list with NEET State rank.
Courses offered through NEET result
Candidates qualified NEET exam are required to participate in the counselling process. Based on the NEET rank, admission is offered to,
MBBS and BDS courses in government and private colleges, central universities, deemed institutes/universities across India along with AIIMS and JIPMER.
AYUSH courses – India including Ayurveda (BAMS), Siddha (BSMS), Naturopathy (BNYS), Yoga, Unani (BUMS), and Homeopathy (BHMS).
On the basis of NEET rank, admission is being offered to B.V.Sc. and AH courses – Admissions to 15% All India Quota seats in Veterinary colleges offering B.VSc. and AH courses (excluding Jammu & Kashmir).
NEET score is a must to join MBBS abroad. The NEET result is considered for 3-years for abroad admissions.
What after the NEET UG 2023 result?
NEET Qualified candidates must appear for the counselling process conducted by the MCC for All India Quota. To appear for the counselling, candidates must register with the MCC.
Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir states who qualified the NEET exam are not allowed to participate in the MCC All India counselling process. They have to participate in state quota counselling.
Candidates who qualified the NEET exam can also register for the state counselling process of their respective state if they wish to get admission in state level medical colleges.
NEET Counselling 2023
NEET Counselling will be done based on the NEET rank scored by the competitors. MCC conducts NEET counselling for 15% All India seats and 85% State quota seats.
15% All India Quota seats:
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling to fill out these seats in Government Medical Colleges.
85% State Quota seats:
85% state quota seats are for various government private medical colleges of each state. These seats will be granted by the respective state authorities to the students based on the eligibility and rules of that particular state.
Central Institutes/Universities/Deemed Universities:
Medical and dental seats offered by the Deemed and central universities. These seats will also be allotted for the students based on NEET rank. MCC organizes the counselling process.
State/Management/NRI Quota seats:
The admission to State/Management/NRI quota seats offered by private medical or dental colleges or any private university.
Central Pool Quota seats:
Under the central pool quota seats, NEET qualified candidates will be granted admission through counselling. The counselling process is being done by MCC.
