NTA announced that NEET 2020 results to be released on the 12th of October initially were postponed due to the Honorable Supreme Court Order on 12th October 2020. The NEET 2020 exam was conducted on September 13th for 15.97 lakh registered students throughout India. Nonetheless on 10-10-2020 the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s revised SOP the candidates that are not attended the NEET-2020 examination due to COVID-19 positive or from containment areas had to appear in the exam on a later date.
In view of the facts to allow the COVID-19 affected students to appear for the NEET 2020 examination NTA approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India through I.A.No.100861/2020 in C.A.No. 11230 of 2018 in the matter of “C.B.S.E Vs T.K. Rangarajan & Ors” seeking permission to conduct the Phase-2 exam for those students. The Hon’ble Supreme Court was pleased to allow the NTA to conduct the Phase-2 exam for those students that have missed the 13th September 2020 examination, and who have produced the relevant documents regarding the same prior to 24 hours before the examination will be allowed to attend the Phase-2 NEET-2020. And the exam for those candidates will be held on 14th October 2020 as per the Public Notice issued by the NTA authorities.
This eventually has postponed the 12th October 2020 NEET results announcement and the NTA has announced that the NEET-2020 results including Phase-2 students exam results together will be announced on 16th October 2020.
Huge Confusion around Phase-2
Though NTA has approached the court for the students that have informed them prior to 24 hours before the conduction of the examination of Phase-1 of NEET with the official declaration, plenty of candidates have approached now to NTA as they are unaware of the rule at that time and are asking for a chance to appear for the examination. With the huge confusion and not being able to get the proper information from the NTA or any other concerned authorities, students are in great despair. Though NTA has provided an opportunity for all those students that are COVID-19 positive or in containment zones at the time of the NEET 2020 exam it should provide proper guidelines of the same for all the students that are unaware of this opportunity. Also, few students might have contracted a fever and are not allowed to the examination center or stopped in their homes due to fear.
What about all those students that are unable to provide the proper documentation but have eventually suffered due to COVID-19. NTA toll-free numbers and all the mail IDs provided to contact to seek the information regarding Phase-2 of the examination are bombarding with all the mails rejecting the mails reporting the full inbox, and the numbers are continuously busy from 12th October 2020 to 14th October 2020 morning hours.
In view of the above-mentioned situations, if any of the students or the parent has approached the courts in seeking justice, the NEET 2020 results might be postponed again. With all the confusion of COVID-19 and all other involved effects, NEET 2020 exam commencement, results in the announcement are exiting all the parents and students with the nerve-wracking tensions and latest announcements.
Let’s hope for Phase-2 to be organized without any hurdles and the long-awaited results to be announced as per the schedule announced though it is very unfortunate for all the students that have missed the opportunity again in Phase-2.
