How many marks are required in the NEET to study MBBS in abroad

NEET score is important to get admission in India but to study MBBS abroad only qualifying in NEET examination is sufficient. National Testing Agency has clearly prescribed the NEET eligibility criteria in accordance with the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018. NEET is conducted for national wide MBBS seats allotment on the basis of the ranks and the reservation categories of the medical aspirants.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS abroad

  1. Student must have completed +2 or 12th standard from a regular board.
  2. Students that studied under open board or correspondence classes are not eligible to study MBBS abroad.
  3. The student 12th should have Biology, Physics and Chemistry subjects.
  4. For General category students +2 / Intermediate with 50% of total PCB marks.
  5. For SC/ST/OBC category students must have an aggregate of 40% or above in PCB.
  6. English should also be a compulsory subject.
  7. The student must be 17 years or above age as on 31st December of the year in which the student seeking admission.

Age limitation for MBBS abroad

The Honorable Supreme Court of India under Writ Petition (Civil)-99/2017 dt: 31-03-2017 has announced that the candidates that are above the age of 25 years may apply for NEET-2020 examination on provisional grounds. The upper age limit of 25 years as prescribed under the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 vide amendment dated 22.01.2018, was challenged and the verdict of Supreme Court vide interim order dt: 29-11-2018, candidates who are 25 years and above were provisionally permitted to appear in NEET-UG subject to the final outcome of the said matters.

The percentile score in order to qualify NEET depends on the highest marks obtained in that particular year and based on that the cut off marks percentile varies every year. But we can have approximate cut-off marks for every category.

NTA on NEET cut off marks
