NMC Approved Medical Universities in Abroad
The National Medical Commission (NMC) in India was created through the enactment of the National Medical Commission Act in 2019. As a regulatory authority, its primary role is to supervise medical education and the medical profession within the country. The establishment of the NMC marked the replacement of the previous governing body, the National Medical Commission. The main objectives of the NMC are to enhance the standard of medical education and to foster improved healthcare services for the people of India.
What is FMGE?
The Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), is an examination administered by the National Board of Examination (NBE) in India. This licensure exam is mandatory for Indian students who have obtained their MBBS degree from foreign medical universities approved by the NMC.
Its purpose is to assess the competence of these students and determine their eligibility to practice medicine in India following the completion of their MBBS course. With a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, students can confidently prepare for and successfully pass the NMC Screening Test.
NMC Screening Test: Important Points to Know
- The NMC Screening Test is conducted yearly twice.
- The Medium of Instruction is English.
- NMC Screening Test has a total number of 300 MCQs
- The exam contains 2 sections.
- Every section is of 150 marks.
- There is no negative marking in the MCI Screening Test.
- Students who obtained 50% marks in MBBS degree are eligible to take this exam.
- The NMC Screening Test can be attempted many times by the students.
Why NMC (MCI) Approved Universities?
NMC (formerly MCI) approved universities are recognized and authorized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in India. These universities meet the specific standards and criteria set by the NMC to ensure the quality of medical education provided to students.
