What is NEET Exam? – NEET Full Form
NEET full form – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. NEET is the national level entrance examination conducted every year to provide admission to medical courses. Students clearing NEET examination will get admission in government and private medical colleges in India. Earlier various entrance examinations were in use to offer MBBS, BDS admissions. From 2020, only NEET exam has become the only source for medicine admissions. Even AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS admissions will also be done on the basis of NEET score.
NEET exam replaced many exams due to One Nation One Examination policy implemented by the Government of India. NEET is a pen-paper based examination. This is the only UG entrance examination conducted in the national level.
What is Eligibility Criteria for NEET?
Candidates seeking to get admission in MBBS/BDS courses required to clear the NEET examination.
Students must have completed class 12 from any recognized college/university/board.
Candidates must have qualified in the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/Biotechnology stream with a minimum marks on 50%.
Upon clearing NEET exam with required qualifying marks, students will get admission into MBBS/ BDS or other medical graduate degree courses.
Who Conducts NEET?
NTA (National Testing Agency) is the authorized body to conduct the NEET examination. The NEET exam is being organized by NTA every year under the guidance of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
NTA is conducting and submitting the NEET results to DGHS.
Earlier AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test) exam was in use for medical graduate degree entrance. While NEET exam replaced AIPMT from 2017.

Students must clear NEET exam to get admission in medical courses across India in Government and private medical colleges/institutions.
Students qualifying in the NEET will get admission in MBBS/BDS/AYUSH courses and many other related medical programmes.
